Bologna Book Fair!

If you ever get the chance to go to the Bologna Children’s Book fair, in Italy, then grab it with all your hands and all your feet! Not only is Bologna a very lovely city but the annual book fair is a very special event. Imagine a huge building full of people who love books, writers, and artists and coffee and ice cream and books and more books and then add sunshine. This year, I’ve been invited to talk about using the IBBY Silent Book collection on Lampedusa, at a one-day workshop about books and young migrants. Most particularly, I’m going to be talking about Marla Frazee’s completely brilliant book, The Farmer and the Clown. If you live in America, this should be an easy book to get through your library or bookstore. For everyone else, I recommend trying to get your library to buy it in. There is something very special about reading a book without words and this book is particularly splendid. Not all story telling is about writing……
