A Beauty Basket and a Basket of Books by Julie Sykes

Recently, I had some amazing luck. Someone bought me tickets for a raffle and I won a prize. A big prize as it turns out. I won this amazing hamper crammed with beauty products.

My family and I had great fun sharing everything out. There was even enough stuff to give some things to my friends. Not only that, but I was left with this gorgeous basket. Now, I’m a bit of a sucker for baskets (and notebooks). I could have won an empty hamper and I’d have been just as pleased!

There’s something about a hamper that makes you want to fill it. Food was the obvious choice. Food for a picnic! The family had plenty to say on what to eat (strawberries and cake were a definite) and where to eat it (Cornwall). Picnic sorted, I started to think about other things we’d need for a day out. Something to sit on, sunglasses (hopefully) and definitely something to read.

That got me thinking.

Wouldn’t it be fun to give someone a hamper full of books! Which of my favourite books would I put in a book hamper?

Naturally, I had to play the game. I spent a happy afternoon pulling my favourite books from my bookshelf and packing them into my hamper. There were too many too fit!

So, I started again, and this is what I came up with. A selection of my favourite books.

If you won a hamper what would you most like to find inside it?
