Unlock Your Writing with Smells!

Last month Lynn Huggins-Cooper wrote about the joys of Bogies and Stench – and then I stumbled across this great podcast by writer Christopher William Hill about how he uses the senses to zing up his books and I wanted to share it with you –

here

– on the Scottish Book Trust website.  (There are all sorts of other really inspiring talks by writers for children and young people on this site, and some great teachers’ resources as well.)

So, are there any smells that really get your imagination going, or that remind you of a place or a time? Let me know – and then see if you can use smells to make your own stories and poems even better!
