Mahatma Gandhi was born on this day in 1869.
He was a brave, determined man, who was deeply committed to non-violence. I have no intention of rewriting his story here – (take out your history books if you want to know the details of his life). Instead I’m going to let the great man speak for himself, by quoting one of his very many profound sayings. This one is about the futility of revenge, something that it’s easy to forget when we’re feeling wounded. I’m not going to add anything else – these words don’t need my comments.
An eye for an eye only ends up making the whole word blind.
