On We Go

Here we are again, at the beginning of a new year. If you’re a regular here then you’ll know from last year’s post that I LOVE January. The evenings are getting lighter. There’s the promise of snowdrops, sunshine and bird song. It feels like walking out of a dark tunnel and into the light.

Best of all, I get to go back to work. Don’t get me wrong. Christmas is fun and it’s always great to have a holiday but, after several days away from my computer, I’m itching to start writing again.

Here’s my wip.

WIP

I’ve written a first draft. My lovely agent has read it, sent me brilliant feedback and just before Christmas met with me to discuss it in more detail.

Christmas and the New Year away from my desk has given me lots of time to think about all the things Polly and I discussed. I know what I want to do. I’m starting the story in a different place. I’m dumping a character.  I’m going to work my protagonist a lot harder.

My first round of revision is going to be fun – in a scary, exciting and definitely hard work sort of way. I’m so up for the challenge.

How about you? Do you have any challenges or goals this month? Are you doing anything new or exciting?

Jade H is. She loves January too as it’s her birthday month. Happy Birthday Jade.  😉

Laura H is too. She’s got a novel to finish. Good luck Laura.

  1. I’ve got quite a few exams in the first week at school… I’m quite nervous about them so I supose my goal would be to do well in them. I forsee a lot of cramming… 😀
