RHCBA and RFMS – Megan Rix

I know I know I should write the title out properly but it was so long and I wanted to get on with this blog because I’ve got lots to tell you…

Last week I got to do something amazing – and beforehand a bit (meaning a lot) scary. I got to film at the Animals in War memorial on Park Lane as part of the Red House Children’s Book Award that my book ‘The Bomber Dog’ has been shortlisted for – yay!

The memorial represents all the animals that died during Wars and when we were filming I kept thinking how terrified those poor animals must have been. My dog Traffy is terrified of even the sound of a firework in the distance but these animals were in the midst of nightmare explosions day after day. It made me want to go home and give my dogs a big hug which is exactly what I did.

war memorialVoting’s now well under way in all the Red House book categories and if you’d like to vote for any of the books or find out more about Red House Children’s Book Award click here: http://redhousechildrensbookaward.co.uk

Plus, I also got to announce an amazing competition to win not only a signed copy of The Bomber Dog but 2 tickets to the gorgeous glitzy Red House children’s Book Award ceremony in February. But as this competition is so new and not quite official yet I will have to come back to you with more details in a few days!!! But definitely worth having a go at and it’d be great to see you there.bombercov

And did you know there’s another competition happening? The Read for my School challenge 2015 which runs from January – March. Schools can sign up right now and there’s lots and lots of prizes including weekly prize draws – brilliant! More details here: http://www.readformyschool.co.uk
