Cover Wars!
When My So-Called Afterlife was first accepted for publication, I was over the moon (well, duh!). I was even more excited when the artwork for the cover popped into my Inbox – imagine seeing your name on a book for the first time! Then the book began to sell to foreign publishers and I got to see how editors from other countries interpreted the story. Some, I loved, some I wasn’t so sure about but one thing was for sure, they were all different (except for Spain, who chose to use the cover from the German hardback). But it doesn’t really matter what I think – it’s the reader who decides whether or not to buy a book and if the cover doesn’t appeal, they’re unlikely to pick up the book in the first place. So I thought I’d open it up to you guys. Which of these five covers do you like best? More importantly, which would make you want to read the book?

German cover

Spanish cover

UK cover

Dutch cover

Polish Cover
PS Sorry about the pictures being a bit wonky – you wouldn’t believe how long it took me to get them looking this good!

Hi Tam!
I LOVE the German cover! SPOOKY LUCY!
WHY is she spooky i wonder? xxx Have a BRILL day! I’ll need to get this book and read it now! x
I love the German cover too, Laura. She’s Spooky Lucy because she’s a ghost, I expect
I voted for the Spanish cover – love the voting machine – very cool!
Thanks, Joan! I’m just glad it works…
I think the German cover is AWESOME! Like Laura, I kept wondering what is so spooky about Lucy
Hi Shalini! See my reply to Laura for the reason Lucy is spooky. I love the colour of the German cover.
I liked the polish and UK cover best.
Thanks, Hawwa. The UK cover looks fab next to the other books in the series
The German & UK covers are my favourite.
Thanks, Bex! I do love those pink Uggs on the adurch cover, though.
Tuh! Dutch cover, that was meant to say!
Ooh – that Polish one is really eerie. Love it!
